COVER THIS! ~ THE ARCHIES "self-titled" by Mike Sullivan

Sound Off: The Archies, the only cartoon band to hit the pop charts with a number 1 song (Sugar, Sugar).  Their follow-up song (Jingle Jangle) was a top ten hit.  Their first album was the first album I owned.  It featured the hit Bang-Shang-a-Lang as well as other songs featured on The Archie Show, and animated feature on Saturday mornings in the late 60s and early 70s.

I've taken their album and placed my own comic book group, The Infinity Five in homage to that wonderful collection of bubblegum songs.

COVER THIS! ~ DIE ANTWOORD "$0$" by Greg Smallwood

Sound Off: Die Antwoord's $0$ is probably the record I've listened to the most in the past year but the album cover is a bit dull when compared to the rap duo's personality.  My cover was an attempt to capture Ninja and Yo-Landi's charm in a way that the original did not. (Editor's Note: See the original cover to DIE ANTWOORD'S premiere album HERE.)

(Check out more of Greg's artwork at his deviantart page! He's got some major stuff in the works!)

COVER THIS! ~ GENESIS "Foxtrot" by Dale Martin

Sound Off: When looking through my favorite albums, a lot of them didn't have covers that inspired me ... but then I hit upon doing Genesis' Foxtrot album (Paul Whitehead, 1972) in the style of their Duke (Lionel Koechlin, 1980).

COVER THIS! ~ Our Favorite Album

We're kicking things off with illustrations that translate our favorite album's covers. The idea is to think about your most cherished album...which one was it that got you through the difficult teen years or acts as the irreplaceable score to your best moments in time? What album can you listen to time and again without growing tired of it? What album is the soundtrack to your life more than any other? What album stands as the most pivotal and important of all your musical finds up to now? Take that album's cover...and remake it, however you see fit. If the album cover itself isn't all that impressive or interesting, then making it better or evoking the length of the album itself might be the way to go. Maybe the album cover it SHOULD have had? Think about it...and send your pieces to: visualaudioclub@gmail.com
